Hoan Kiem Lake is one of Hanoi's most popular walking spots. At present, the Hanoi pedestrian street around Hoan Kiem Lake has been gradually becoming one of the capital's tourist attractions, a place for people to go out, play, and slow down between the roads. A variety of cultural, tourism, and service activities are taking along the streets to meet demand for recreation. Those include photo exhibitions, dragon dancing, performances of traditional musical instruments, traditional singing, and calligraphy writing. The major tourist attraction upon the lake is the small island (reached by a red bridge) that holds Ngoc Son Temple. The sacred temple, along with other architectures, create a historical complex that has been the pride of Hanoian for hundreds of years.
Hanoi’s Old Quarter serves up a sensory overload. Wisps of incense drift out onto streets from ancient temples, while the clang of blacksmiths’ hammers mingles with mobile fruit sellers’ call. Jump in a cyclo and tour this intoxicating maze.
A place of pilgrimage for many Vietnamese, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is a sprawling complex set within the city's gardens that contains the tomb of Ho Chi Minh as well as various museums and monuments. Also worth a visit is the stilt house, once home to Ho Chi Minh, which is excellently preserved, and the One Pillar Pagoda. This pagoda is a reconstruction.
